The Breville BMF600XL Milk Café is a user-friendly device for coffee drinkers and folks who love foamed milk in their beverage. This device has a brushed chrome body. The stainless steel pitcher inside has volume marks to indicate the level you should add tailored to your beverage needs. You can store the whisks at the back part of the frother that is magnetized. Also, on the forther lid, the Breville Milk Café has a detachable port that allows you to add extra flavor (i.e.: strawberry, syrup, cocoa powder & sugar, etc.). For a high-end milk frother, the Breville BMF600XL Milk Café is priced at $159.00. A decent price for a quality & programmable frother.
In terms of mechanism, the Breville Milk Café features precise customization to optimize the milk-to-foam ratio in your beverage. The unit has induction heating for gentle heat distribution. The temperature dial is very clear and intuitive, ranges from cold stir all the way to warm, and a high of 160 F. The dial emits a click sound, once you have selected a desired temperature. By fine-tuning your frother to an optimal temperature, you can make fresh cold mochas, hot cappuccinos or lattes. The Breville Milk Café also comes with a 3 cups stainless steel milk jug for any artistic coffee lovers who enjoy making swivel patterns on their drinks.
The Breville Milk Café is designed with two milk frothing discs: latte and cappuccino. In general, the latte disc is used for silkier milk. The cappuccino disc is made for more foam and froth volume. You can start frothing when the Breville Milk Café starts beeping, and the temperature knob starts to illuminate.
To begin, insert the frothing disc into the shaft of the frothing pitcher with the wider disc facing down. Then you turn the knob to adjust for your desired temperature (i.e.: 140 °F). The rule of thumb is: Don’t make it too much above or below the optimal range, as shown on the Breville frother. Otherwise, you would have not enough bubbles or bathed in too much foam that you milk could lose flavor.
Once you have selected the right temperature, you can push the knob in to start frothing. If you are forthing milk well below the maximum volume, you can leave the lid open to add extra flavor. [Especially while making chai latte, strawberry latte & hot chocolate, etc.] Otherwise, you can cover the lid and move onto making an espresso shot for your cappuccino or plain latte.
For those who are lactose intolerant, worry no more! The Breville Milk Café takes any type of milk with less dairy content. I personally would recommend goat milk as a substitute. It produces rich and flavorful results for a cup of latte and cappuccino. The only downfall is: Since it has a lower dairy content, it can result in less froth than you would expect.
As for cleaning, the Breville Milk Café jug is dishwasher friendly. You also have the option to hand wash.
Another notable feature is: The Breville Milk Café has boil dry & overheating protection. If the liquid is below the minimum required volume after consecutive uses, the alert would sound three times. All you need to do is unplug the power cord and wait for the machine to cool down for about five minutes. You can also fill the milk jug with cold water for faster cooling.
One of the main advantage is: unlike other conventional milk frothers, the body of this Breville Milk Café machine is a large vessel with a capacity of whopping three large US cups.
Note: In baking, 8 ounces equals a cup, but a US cup of coffee is 6 ounces and a European cup of coffee is 4.25 ounces.
